BACKGROUND HISTORY
Today, we have the privilege of introducing you to a remarkable individual named Mary, whose life journey has been one of incredible resilience and unwavering determination. Mary was born with severe cerebral palsy, a condition that presented her with unique challenges from a very young age. She faced difficulties in talking, walking, and achieving the developmental milestones that children typically do. Mary’s condition demanded specialized care and access to proper medical attention right from the beginning.
At the time of her admission to our institution, Mary was living with her single mother and siblings in one of Nairobi’s slums. Their circumstances were marked by poverty, making it exceedingly challenging for Mary’s mother to provide the care and nutrition essential for Mary’s well-being. Recognizing the urgency of her situation, children’s services officers referred Mary to our organization, where she has found a loving and supportive home since 2012, when she was just four years old.
PROGRAMS INVOLVED IN:
Our commitment to Mary’s well-being is unwavering, and we have designed comprehensive programs tailored to her unique needs. Mary actively participates in physiotherapy, rehabilitation services, and occupational therapy, all of which are essential in enhancing her mobility and overall quality of life. Ensuring her health remains optimal, we provide her with the best possible medical care, a well-balanced diet, and daily maintenance medication.
In the past years, Mary faced regular episodes of convulsions. However, through consistent medical care, proper nutrition, and dedicated physiotherapy, we have seen a significant reduction in these episodes. She has made tremendous strides in regaining a range of motion and maintaining her health.
